Early Careers at the Motel One Group

As an apprentice in Hospitality Services, you will work in all departments of the hotel during your apprenticeship. As a generalist, you will master the operational business in all departments and have an overview of everything. After your apprenticeship, you can use the experience you have gained to specialise in your chosen field.

As an apprentice in Hotel Business Administration at Motel One, you will get to know all areas of the hotel, but with a stronger focus on commercial and business management topics. These include accounting, marketing and human resources processes.

The apprenticeship in Hospitality with a focus on restaurant service is only two years and has a clear focus on the bar and restaurant areas. You will also work in the kitchen. This apprenticeship is also well suited for apprentices who do not have German as their native language.

All three apprenticeships offer the opportunity to gain an insight into the kitchen and evening service areas. As Motel One does not normally have restaurants, you can learn about these areas at the “Das Achental” resort, for example. This 4-star hotel is also part of the Motel One family and is idyllically located near Lake Chiemsee.

As an apprentice at the Motel One Group, you will also attend university – our own One University in Munich. The One University is the Motel One Group's internal training centre. You can choose from a wide range of topics: from guest communication and intercultural skills to barista training. We also offer exam preparation courses specifically for apprentices.

At the beginning of your apprenticeship, you will be invited to Munich for the Apprentice Welcome Days together with all other Motel One apprentices – including hotel accommodation and meals. In two days full of exciting activities and valuable workshops, you will be optimally prepared for your apprenticeship at the Motel One Group and get to know the other apprentices better.

During your dual study programme at the Motel One Group, you will gain experience in all key areas of hotel operations. Whether front office, reservations, breakfast service, housekeeping or bar – you will learn about the processes in each area first-hand. You will also gain valuable insights into our departments such as sales, marketing, revenue management, accounting and administration.

You will complete your dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Hotel Management in cooperation with ISM International School of Management. The programme lasts seven semesters. Lectures take place at the Motel One campus in Munich. This is where all Motel One Group students from all over Germany come together several times a year – for around two weeks at a time and for exam week. The exclusive Motel One class guarantees intensive support and promotes personal exchange in a motivating learning environment.

 

At the Motel One Group, we invest in your future: we cover the full tuition fees at ISM International School of Management – over €30,000. In addition, you will receive a monthly allowance (1st year: €500, 2nd year: €600, from the 3rd year onwards: €700). We will also cover your travel expenses to the theory phases in Munich, as well as accommodation and meals at One Campus. This allows you to concentrate fully on your studies.

You can gain valuable international experience while you are still studying – for example, during a four-week assignment at one of our hotels outside Germany. After graduation, a wide range of career opportunities will open up for you throughout Europe – thanks to our steady growth and the opportunity to develop your skills within the Motel One world.

Our goal is long-term cooperation – even beyond your studies. More than 70% of our dual students stay with the Motel One Group after graduation. The most important thing for us is your enthusiasm for the hotel industry. Ideally, you will already have some practical experience. If not, we offer you the opportunity to complete an internship at the Motel One Group before you start your studies – giving you an authentic insight into our world. You will work 20–25 hours per week at one of our hotels in selected European cities. During this time, you will rotate through all key departments of hotel operations – from Front Office and Housekeeping to the Bar. In addition, you will gain insight into our specialist departments such as sales, marketing, revenue management, accounting, and HR.

At the same time, you study 100% online at ISM. The virtual campus gives you access to all learning materials, tutorials and opportunities for exchange. After three and a half years, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel Management, gaining solid expertise in business administration, human resource management, tourism marketing, revenue management and sustainability, as well as AI and project development in the hospitality sector.

If not, we’ll be happy to offer you a pre-study internship so you can get to know our way of working and our company culture before your degree begins.
